In 1978, Christina West was one of two massage therapists in Half Moon
Bay to offer "Amma Shiatsu" technique. Dr. West focuses on whole body
wellness: Mind, Body and Spirit, with the "Gentle Approach," a variety
of therapies and veteran techniques: chiropractic, physiotherapy,
massage, nutrition, pediatric wellness, and difficult spinal
conditions. Chiropractic Family Care clinic offers combination packages
of chiropractic, massage, de-tox enzyme footbath and laser light
therapies. Consultations are available in wellness, pediatrics and
nutrition. Also, Dr. West is one of only a few chiropractors
specializing pediatric techniques.

Getting Our Children Off Prescription Drugs
I read an article in the New York Times that I would like to share. It is important we work together to get our young children off of prescriptive psychotropic drugs, such as Ritalin and Prozac. In past years, the Clinton White House was dedicated to reversing a sharp increase in the number of preschool children using Ritalin, Prozac and other powerful psychiatric drugs. There has been concern from educators and parents at the increased number in the preschool population. Teachers, psychiatrists, family doctors and drug companies reacted favorably to the Clinton administration's and Hillary Clinton's support in the plan to reduce the large numbers of preschoolers getting these powerful medications without proper monitoring and reporting.

Abstract
White House will announce major initiative to reverse sharp increase in number of preschool children using Ritalin, Prozac and other powerful psychiatric drugs; government will inform parents and teachers about risks of such drugs, Food and Drug Administration will develop new drug labels and National Institutes of Health will begin huge nationwide study of Ritalin use in children under age of six; White House will hold conference in fall on diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in very young children.
Chiropractic is the "Science, Art and Philosophy" that concerns itself with restoring and maintaining a properly functioning nervous system, without the use of drugs or surgery.
Many children that have been diagnosed with Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD) in reality have nerve interferences that send complex messages. The "calming" of these interferences should not be done by covering up root causes with drugs. The brain is our computer; the spinal cord, our Internet highway. Many of the pathways from the brain to the spinal cord lead to visceral internal organs. Feedback of the sympathetic and para-sympathetic system without the additional interference of psychotropic drugs allows the body to heal and function properly. Putting our children on drugs will not create more time in our lives for them. We must create the quality of life that our children deserve.
